Let’s talk about Dermaplaning.

Dermaplaning! Another trend going around. But, actually dermaplaning has been around for quite some time. Dermaplaning has been preformed for years going back to the early 2000’s. The technique was mostly used in medical spas and plastic surgeons offices. Most often preformed prior to a chemical peel as the first exfoliation method. Used during a method often called double exfoliation, only legal in certain states across the country. Dermaplaning was often used in conjunction with surgical facial procedures, botox, and filler as an additional treatment to allow makeup and skincare products to lay effortlessly.

Let’s go into what dermaplaning exactly is. Dermaplaning is a method of exfoliation using a stainless surgical blade at 45 degree angle with the skin taut to scrape the skin removing dead skin build up, and the vellus hair of the face. Each blade used on the device is disposable to prevent any contamination. The skin is prepped before the procedure with an astringent. This method of exfoliation is a painless non invasive procedure which is a great way to prep the skin for treatment like chemical peels. Ideally dermaplaning should be preformed once a month for best results.

At Breanna Peters Aesthetics we offer a Dermaplaning facial paired with a hydrating enzyme mask, and high frquency to kill any bacteria on the skin and prevent future breakouts.
